You can only access Flashpoints if you have a post-campaign save, and some players might not be at that point yet. It isn’t a mind-blowing style of mission, but as you spend more and more time with Battletech, the mission objectives do start to get a little repetitive, so even just one added encounter type is appreciated. Your goal is to capture the three compounds and then destroy the enemy base before time runs out. These see you dropping onto a map with three key bases, and an enemy compound triangulated within them. Even the “short” Flashpoint deployments can easily run over an hour in length, so these are hardly quick and dirty side-quests.Īnother minor mission expansion sees a brand new type of contract added to the game, in the form of Target Acquisitions. They’re long missions and can be a hell of a challenge if you aren’t well prepared. These missions often see you fulfilling multiple objectives and requests in a row, with no time to heal up or redeploy in-between. Whether using an endgame save or starting the new Career Mode, you’ll be able to find multi-part contracts on the Starmap and take them on for lengthy battles and plenty of spoils. There weren’t many reasons to go exploring the rest of the galactic map after beating the main campaign, but Flashpoint gives you some. Flashpoint, the first of three planned DLC expansions for the game, aims to bring even more action to an already beefy package.įlashpoint adds a handful of new items under every category, but the biggest addition are the titular Flashpoint missions. This was a game already jam-packed with content from day 1, with a huge main story campaign and impressively customizable mechs. After a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, the creators of Shadowrun Returns were able to bring their tactical RPG genius to the realm of giant robots and space operas with a reboot of the Battletech series. I've verified my files (there was actually 3 that failed validation and were re-grabbed) but I wanted to do that flashpoint on my new career rather than my older one.Īnyone have a guess? Maybe a known bug that might get fixed in a later patch?Įdit: I just remembered why those three files failed validation: I edited them to fix this bug.Įdit: This bug is exactly the issue I'm having, but there's been no comment on it at all.In a year jam-packed with Game of the Year caliber releases, it can be easy to forget about the low-key release of Battletech. What's the deal with this? I know it's not just there and not easy to see. I loaded an older career save and went through the first flashpoint to maybe get a clue, got the event and then went and did the Hunting Season flashpoint, just to be sure I didn't do it and forgot about it, and no. I went through and completed every other flashpoint (save for the faction specific ones) and there's nothing. At the time, I think I was a little light on the mechs to attempt that one, so I held off and completed the career, then noticed it was gone. I did the 'Of Unknown Origin' flashpoint, and I'm 99% certain I did the event where you bribe people for an easier time, which unlocks the Independence 'Hunting Season' Flashpoint.
